    Photo technique

I was wandering if someone could explain how to achieve a certain effect when taking pictures of traffic. For example their is a focus for the picture but the traffic's lights passing it are blurred together. Ive seen it many times and i was wandering if it is something an amateur should attempt and how would i got about it.

I have a Sony DSC W17! Is it possible with this camera, if yes, do i need some accessories??

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

if its a night shot always use a tripod.

Set your camera for a lower iso maybe 200 and your shutter speed slower.
Just the fact that the shutter speed is slower, when the car goes by it will create that line of light effect.
Practice a few, its free its digital

Let us know how they turn out
    have fun

Don't forget to use the tripod to keep the camera steady with the slower shutter speed. Also helpful if you don't have a remote shutter release, be sure and use the timer to take the shot. This will prevent any camera shake during the shot.
