Fall is on the way
I noticed that the leaves are starting to turn. Unfortunately summer is rapidly coming to a close here in New Jersey. I took this shot with my Coolpix 5000 in macro mode. I used A priority and spot metered on the leaf because the sun was very bright. 1/500 sec at f3.1 ISO 100.

While processing my pictures, I noticed a bug on one of the leaves. I cropped the picture to highlight the bug. Enjoy.

There were several suggestions that the picture would look better with the background blurred and darkened, so here is my first attempt in Photoshop.

If I look All this week, maybe I will find a leaf somewhere here. Are there any cactuses with leaves? :-}

EdMac I like the idea and the leaves have character.... in this photo the one that I’‚’‚…‚’‚…¾‚d like to see is the background removed or at least obscure the left side background of the photo to more closely resemble the right side ’‚’‚…‚’‚‚¦ I feel the darker background as on the right allows the color of the leaves to more fully appreciated
Best Regards,
Steve

Thanks Paul, I agree. I tried opening the aperture as much as I could with the CP5000. If I had used my SLR, I would have blurred the background more.

I agree with Paul on this one...I find the left side a bit 'busy', too distracting.
As for the DOF issue with digital cameras, blurring the background can always be done with a photo editing software.Kind Regards.

Thanks for your comments. I agree with both of you. In this case I was trying to see what I could do with the CP5000. I didn't want to do too much with Photoshop. I will make the changes suggested and post the result.
