Portable storage media - Archos/mRobe etc

    Hi,

Im heading over to South America in a couple of weeks and need some way to store my photos. I've decided against taking the laptop and wont always be near a net cafe so I need an independent storage device. The essentials are 1)battery powered and 2)able to download photos directly from a CF card reader without going through a computer. The Archos is a little out of my price range, but has anyone used the mRobe? Or can anyone recommend something else that meets those criteria?

    Thanks a lot,
    Joel

    Hi!

I bought an EPSON P2000 (40 gigs accepts all format including Raw format...huge screen etc...)
few days ago and I just love it!
You won't be disappointed by its performance. (check out their website)
It's a bit pricy though (about 800 australian dollars....)

    Just a thought!

    Have a good trip!

    zen vision

Hi, On a recent trip to Europe, I took a Zen vision 30g. Has a great screen and with the flash card adapter, takes just about any kind of memory card. Super easy to downloand and had the advantage of being a really good mp3 player and video player. I like the fact you can actually read the screen (archos fonts too small to easily read for me) and it is small enough to carry easily.
battery life on mp3 or photo viewing is great and they have an optional long life battery.
Right now I have 1800 mp3's and a couple of thousand pics and I haven't even begun to fill it up.
