I'm looking to replace my Canon A610. That sets the ballpark as to where I am. I can spend more money but obviously I'd prefer not to.

I require the following features:

* flip out LCD screen
* good low light performance (I hate flash photography
* AA batteries
* decent optical zoom, 4x or greater, 10x is wonderful
* full set of manual controls

I strongly prefer SD cards but that is not mandatory.

And now for the unusual feature. I want the continuous mode that my old Sony DCS-D770 had. I press the shutter and it starts taking pictures as fast as it can. I press it again and it stops. I don't have to hold it down to make the shots, I don't get a maximun number of shots.

My Canon limits me to 10 shots. The Canon PowerShot S3, according to the reviews, writes an unlimited number of pictures, but without trying one (which I really should do I guess) I don't know how the continuous mode operates.

Oh, I like Canon BTW, no real reason, I've been happy with the Canon digicams we've owned.

Oh, and what's wrong the A610 that it needs replacing? Nothing really, we have 2 photographers and 1 camera in the house, that's all.

Thanks!
