    canon 10d or nikon d70

both have generally the same features, except d70 is much newer.

I have always liked canon cameras, especially after using the new 1d mk2 canon, and the 20d.

but, I've also seen some very nice shots with the d70.

    thoughts?

Let me say straight off i don't use either brand, but I am an avid reader of every photo mag on the shelves and it seems that after extensive testing, canon produce cleaner, less noisy images at ISO 400 and higher compared to Nikon. That seems to be the case across the range of both marques. Just something to bear in mind.

I am also looking at the same option. A Canon 10D or a Nikon D70. I dont have any AE lenses which will sway my decision. I also dont think they are in the same class. I saw a comparision with the Canon 20D and the Nikon D70 and it was a very close race, down to the thread on most issues.

This being said what do I loose purchasing a used Canon 10D compared to the Canon 20D.

I sway to the Canon 10D due to its physical strength, having a magnesium inner shell. I am looking for something with a solid feel, not a cheep plastic Rebel either. I have some older Minolta SLR camera's at home now and i really enjoy they way they age.

So I guess I would love the features and speed of the Nikon D70 with the Picture quality of the Canon 20D and the price of a used Canon 10D.

I am now totally confused and will continue to put money aside till I MUST make a decision.

Oh ya and I like the Fuji Finepix S1. I would like it as a beater for events I just dont want to bring an expensive camera to. The Fuji takes the Nikon lense.

Please I will take any criticisms or comments. I would like them geared towards the specific cameras mentioned.

I'm a Nikon D70 owner but my comment is on the Fuji Finepix S1
I know a number of pro wedding, portrait and event photographers and they love the Fuji for the skin color it can achieve.
But one of those friends just bought a D200 as a second camera and she loves the skin color it achieves like her Fuji.
I think she has the newest Fuji, she owned 2 Fuji's and 2 Nikons but just sold her D70

sorry not trying to hijack thread

I figured since I dont measure up to the same bank account as Bill Gates, I would get a used S1 and a used D70. That was plan 1. Plan 2 was a Canon 10D or 20D.

    Thanks

    Chris
