    Traveler Photo Contest

I got this link from b&h photography - a very reputable company. It's for a big photo contest and it looks great, with superb prizes. It's a bit out of my league but we have photographers in here who could compete seriously.

I hope some of you give it a go.

    Thumbs down

I got the email about this too.

They want $10 for each contest submission. I don't think so.

It's not unusual to have to pay entrie fees in photographic competitions offering this kind of prize list. Or even ones without such a prize list.

I think really serious photographers will and do pay. It helps keep out probably many hundreds of not so good folks. I considede myself a good, but not great photographer and I don't believe I could compete in something like this. But if I could, I'd pay.

This contest is aimed at serious, serious people who often have thousands of dollars invested in equipment of one kind or another, they will shell out another $10 to compete.

Thanks for sharing Sheila - looks like an awesome contest. And you`re right. A lot of the higher end contests do charge a fee to defray some of the handling and judging costs. In this instance, both National Geographic and World in Focus are highly reputable so a $10 fee per shot is definitely legit!

Even if you don't care to enter, check out the galleries if you want to see outstanding photography - breathtaking. Many of the people are professional photographers, but by no means all. Its worth just looking.
