Entry Level SLR

I am contemplating either the Canon 350D or the Nikon D50 as an entry level option and cannot make my mind up, obviously opinions will vary, however, I am interested in landscape photography (beaches, countryside, forests etc) and were wondering which would be better suited...if this is possible

They rate the D50 slightly higher than the Canon 350D but I guess thats all opinion.

I did notice that both the D50 and the 350D both only have a shutter speed up to 1/4000sec where the D70S and also the D70 since I own one, goes to 1/8000 sec.

From what I hear, you cant tell much difference between the 6mpx and 8mpx files so I wouldnt let that sway you either way unless you see a comparison of the same photo shot with both cameras to see how you can tell the difference.

As with any DSLR, its the photographer that has to also know what they are doing to get achieve good photos.

You should also take a look at the kind and cost of lenses for both Canon and Nikon.
That might help you which to go with since once you buy a Nikon, you cant use Canon lenses and vice versa.

You wont hear many bad things about Nikon from a Nikon owner, as goes you wont usually hear bad things about Canon from a Canon owner.
Its all what people get used to using and become more familiar that leads to becoming a better photographer the more you shoot and learn
