Canon Rebel xt vs Olympus evolt 500

Gonna get one of the two, but can't decide. I like the feel of the evolt better (heaftier, more solid), image-wise, which do you recommend?

Hi Rich -- as an Oly owner myself (though mine's the earlier E-300) I'm biased of course but I would go with the Oly E-500 (except it's too small for me, hence I got the 300). The Canon 350D/Rebel XT has a shallower battery grip (hand grip) than the 500 so it feels less secure in use. I've seen photos from both models and have been able to inspect the photos in considerable detail (jpeg shots on my monitor) and those from the E-500 are noticeably sharper and more natural looking colour-wise. (Both cameras used under same conditions and using same settings).

I have the original Digital Rebel. Feel free to look at my gallery - many of the shots are with the standard kit lens. I went Canon because of lens options. I love their IS (image stablized) line and hope to be able to afford some of the "L series" lenses - which is a standard for many pros.

From what I have read - you are choosing between 2 winners.
