Digi Cam for Night/Dark photos

I currently have a Digital Rebel XT and am looking to get a non digital SLR camera that I can take good night photography with.
I take pictures at a local club and I need something with good picture to picture response time and auto focus with photos using flash. It need the ability to manually change the shutter speed also, so I don't always have to use the flash. I would really like a camera that does better than average with red eye also, so I don't have to spend all day in Photoshop.
I'd like to stay under $600 if possible. Suggestions please!!

Instead of looking for a specific camera suggestion, maybe look at what the aperture and shuttert speed capabilities are of cameras in the under 600 dollar price range.

i know those are what determines good low light photography, but different camera companies use different processors and lenses that give different noise levels. a sony shooting at iso 400 is going to give different noise levels than a nikon or fuji with the same settings.

i'm looking for some real life experience with different non digitial slr cameras in low light conditions and what people have found works best for them.
