D50 bulb setting
Hi I have a Nikon D50 and want to shoot star trails using the bulb setting, as the camera doesnt have a cable release socket What is the best way overcome this problem ?
Do I need a special adapter or will the Nikon remote control achieve this for me ?
Thanks

I am a canon user, but I would be willing to bet that the remote for your camera is able to be used for bulb shots. What remote do you have/are you looking to buy?

There are a few compatable remotes on ebay.
I enquired about one the Nikon ML-L3 askng the seller if this was suitable for bulb settings on the D50, but the guy came back with I need a shutter release cable.
There are a couple more remotes from China and USA non Nikon I think, that state that they work with the bulb setting.
Im just wondering how they work, do I press the remote to open the shutter, then after my long exposure press the remote again to close it ?

I'm not sure how the nikon ones work, but the canon ones have a little slider that you move to hold down the shutter button on the remote. If the non nikon ones say that they are bulb compatable, I'm sure they'll work fine and you'll probably save a few bucks by not buying Nikon
