    So few votes!

It's always struck me thow small the number of people who vote in photo contest final. Where does everyone go to?

Last wee only 22 people voted, the week before it was 34 I think but that's a high end number.
The images that end up the final usally have around five - ten or so people who rated the picture. How come they don't vote in the final?

I don't get it. Any theories?

    Voting

Northbeach, being new to Byte I'm just trying to find my way around this extensive site. To be honest I don't know where to place my votes here !! pathetic I know, I get so engrossed in looking at all the wonderful images entered I sort of forget about the voting !! I do place comments though as much as I can, I think it's good to give and recieve comment good or bad. I notice a lot of images have no comments at all. It would also be good if more people commented ? just a thought.
I will certainly place my votes once I figure it out.

I was talking more about the contest final - the best six exntries of the week are posted for voting.

I've noticed your posts and I think you're doing a great job of participating. Making constructive comments is more important than rating and actually, rating without comment is against the rules.

    Keep on, you're doing great!

I think that lots of people quit voting when they know that they aren't in the running anymore.

That coudl be the case, if so it's a shame.

Did these people ever consider that maybe sometime they will make it in the top six...wouldn't they be dissapointed if all the other people that week gave up and didn't care what happened once they were out?

There must be at least 50 people per week are in it, that is if ea. one entered 2 pictures, as there are usually around 10 pages with 12 pics per page. Not many people are voting.

    Hi,

I've changed the side blocks around and added a more obvious link to the Photo Finals voting page.
Hope this helps those who have difficulty of finding there way around.
    Kind Regards.

Thanks, Stephen, although when I logged on there this morning I wondered where the finals had gone! After I read your message I went back and found it.

To address this a bit further...I have noticed recently that highly rated and viewed photographs are tending to get low or not votes (this week is a classic example of that) in the final. Mel, your image was wisely chosen to move up but the regular posters didn't catch on to it during the week.

I think this speaks to the demographics of the posters these days, they vote openly with what someone else has said is good then, privately, vote what they really feel is best.

The guy who has shaken the whole rating status quo up this week makes that clear I think lol. People now feel free to say the Emporer has no clothes or at the very least frorgot to put his socks on

Just a theory and it calls into question the rating system again. My personal take is to categorize
