Best Camera for Night Shots?

I'm sure this has been debated and asked before, but I searched the forums already for the answer, but haven't found it yet.

But, I travel a lot and I have a Nikon 7600 as my pocket camera, but I'm looking to get a camera that has a great zoom lens feature and takes night shots with greater ease.

I've been looking at the:
Canon EOS 350D Digital Rebel XT Digital SLR
Or The:
Nikon Coolpix 8800

I know one is an SLR and one is a point and shoot, but the key bonus to the Nikon is that it has the ability to use Micro Drives, which I have 2x4GB drives just sitting around.
Whereas the Canon just uses Compact flash. But Compact Flash is easier to work with than microdrives.

Well, I managed to find a Nikon 8700 for $369 at eCost.com and it's working out pretty well. I just wish my micro drive worked in it. 4GB of space but it doesn't work.
