    What is this discolouration?

    Hi all,

    www.bytephoto.com/photopost/showphoto.php?photo=46610&password=&sort=1&cat=500&page=1

Just wondering if someone could tell me what the wierd discolouration was at the top of the tower in this photo? Is it just because of the extreme contrasts? Is there any way to stop it happening?

    Thanks
    Joel

    Hi Joel,

I don't see anything other than some overexposure around the window. Is that what you're referring to?

If it is, you can handle some of that in Photoshop, use a neutral density filter or try a lower ISO; and also, bracket your shots.

PS I just looked at your gallery. It looks like you know all that so ignore me.

    Hi Frank,

Thanks for the reply - yes, thats the area I was talking about. I've been shooting at an ISO of 100, which I thought would be low enough for this type of work but maybe not. I'll have to get a hold of a decent filter and try that...

    Thanks again,
    Joel
