Hy everybody,

I would like to ask you all how can I resize a photo (the original one of my camera) to a smaller size without deleting the EXIF data? Because every time I resize it the EXIF data is gone...
Could somebody help me please? THank you.

Tell me, how are you resizing the image? Several common methods will strip the EXIF in order to make the image smaller in file size.

FOR WINDOWS XP:

Use the Microsoft Image Resizer PowerToy which adds resize option to a 'right click' on a jpeg file.

I looked a little closer - at my own test photo in "Gallery: Latest Photos" - to find that an image resized with ACDSee does indeed retain the data. (DUH!)

Omikros and Alex,
I use Adobe Photoshop Elements and this program will not strip out any EXIF data. The program is very reasonable and is very good for photo editing.

Using Elements by itself is not the whole answer, if you use the "save for web" option to resize and save a version of your image in Elements it will most certainly strip the exif info. (sorry Ponder, I don't mean to criticize your help) if you use Elements or other PShop versions make sure to use the "save as" command which will save the exif along with the jpeg. but there could be other issues as well even if you are saving correctly.

I almost always use IrfanView for resizing, because it is so simple for that task. It always retains tha EXIF data.

I remember awhile back someone else had this problem, they were using SAVE FOR WEB. The reply was to only use SAVE AS, which I do after editing, and it always retains the data.

Maybe you could do a test and compare the two.

That does solve it Mel providing they are using a photoshop product and they didn't start with a new blank image and paste the photo into it for framing or something.

I use a script in Paint Shop Pro, that prepares the resize.

It has been a while now that I haven't answered here...

I use Paint Shop PRO 7 but every time I save a picture wwith "save as" the EXIF data is gone! Can't I set something in the properties of P.S. that it doesn't delete the EXIF data?

I used the microsoft resizing tool too, but even with that "program" the EXIF data is gone!

I'll try to work with the Adobe elements...I have it here somewhere (demo version) of my Firewire hardware...
