I tried to upload a few photos but I recieved this message "Your photo exceeded our limit of kb. 1024kb." I saved the photo directly from my memory card to my pc. I am really really new to this so I got a digital photography for dummies book but Im impatient and I have an infant so I dont get much time to sit down and read. So what is the best way to shrink the amount of memory the photos will take up so I can upload them?Thanks

You'll need some sort of image editing or graphics software. There's a good chance you received some software with your camera, but if not, Irfanview is freeware and will do the job. You can download it here: http://www.irfanview.com

If you're uploading it straight from the camera, the dimensions are probably quite large. I would reduce it to about 800 x 600 pixels...that's a good size for web viewing. That should be enough to reduce the file size to bytephoto's limit.

Thanks for the response and advice. What about adobe photoshop, can I reduce with that? Or Camedia Master 4.2 that's what came with the camera, or even Picassa 2? I guess I should be reading up instead of being lazy. But, I'm kinda one of those trial and error guys.

Yep, you can definitely do that (plus much much more) with Photoshop. Just make sure that "constrain proportions" is checked (after clicking on "image" then "image size" in the menu bar.

be sure to size it to no more than 800 on the long end and let the short end adjust itself.
If you make it 800x600 exactly, you image could become distorted.
Be sure to save as a different file name.
I always put a capital W at the end filenameW.jpg so I know its a web version.
