Lightbulb How to Choose a Camera!?!?!?

I wanna buy a goood camera. I'm not sure what is different between all those canon, sony, nikon, etc

So, which kind of camera is better? And which ones allow you more control of things such as exposure time and aperture? What else should I search for in a camera? Which range of exposure times and apertures is good?

There are alot of differant cameras and purposes for those cameras. I would make a detailed list of what your going to be photographing, when, where, and so on. This will help other users explain the differances and maybe even recommend a few.

    Example:
    Photography Subjects-
Family events, nature photography, senics, low light, indoor photography. Sporting events.

    Camera functions-
Hotshoe for external flash, full manual exposure, nice auto settings, flash controls, image processing control.

    Camera size-
SLR Feel, but not the true weight/size of a true SLR

The above example is a nice fitting discription that may be helpful. Again make a list of YOUR NEEDS and WANTS

Well... I tend to vary a lot on my subjects. I would say I can photograph from stars to little insects. One thing that I don't like is flash - specially with colour. I think I would make a lot of nature pictures and also indoor pictures of people. In the case of nature, I would need both a slow shutter to get the water running and also a fast shutter to get an animal at the right moment. As for indoor pictures of people, I think they would mostly be BW (but colour too) and I would prefer to use only natural light. My camera can't do that. It keeps getting out of focus when there is not enough light...

    I think that's all...
