Advice on a tricky subject needed.
Hi all,
I'm the first to admit I'm still a complete novice when it comes to photography. That being said, I'd like to try and incorporate a series of photos into my major HSC project
.
The topic is isolation, and I was thinking of shooting a human figure (a "shadow") in some nice nightscapes I've noticed over the last few years. These would include a backdrop of lit fountains (ie the light is under the water spout, so it looks like a column of light), illuminated bridge pylons, reflections of light on water etc etc. I certainly dont expect this to be easy, and I was wondering if anyone can give me any guidance whatsoever, regarding possible filters, camera settings, anything.
Thanks a lot, in advance.

In this case, metering is going to be everything. The biggest thing is if your trying shadow out the subjects and have the senic backgrounds lighted is contrast. I would recommend spot metering on your senic subject and then allow your subject to fall into the shadows...
Watch the noise levels with the 5700, it seems to show a little more with longer shutter speeds. YOu may want to run neat image or use nikons in camera NR.
As for filters there is really nothing major you would need.
You may want to bracket your exposures and that way you can layer images together if needed.
Each location is going to be differant, so you will have to work all locations differantly.
