feedback on new site needed
I’‚’‚…‚’‚…¾‚m currently working on a site focused primarily on digital camera news and information ’‚’‚…‚’‚‚¦.. http://www.bytecamera.com and would appreciate any feedback my primary concern at this point is usability factors such as
- site page load speed
- navigation
- the overall look & feel
Content is thin as the site is brand new ’‚’‚…‚’‚‚¦
please note : the site does not have a gallery or forums is not meant to compete with BytePhoto but rather it is meant to complement this site and over time help bring people to BytePhoto ’‚’‚…‚’‚‚¦.
your comments and suggestions are welcomedBest Regards,
Steve

Speed and navigation seemed fine. I would prefer the "look" not to have the blank white space either side of the page, but that's just my opinion. Good luck with the new venture.
Warm regards

Good luck on your site...couple of suggestions:
1. Pring font is too small....I had to bump it up using my view setting.
2. Don't use the grey font color.
3. The best sites keep in mind that people will be using different size monitors.
4. Personally.....I'm one of those people with bifocals....and it is a real problem dealing with monitors i.e. glasses really don't work at the distance I sit from my monitor...so I don't use them. Hence....I really hate real small fonts. Yes....I know I should get a pair of glasses just for the computer......but I am suggesting that you consider how many people do deal with vision correction problems and computer monitors.
5. I presume the site content will expand...but with many sites already online, have you thought of what will make your site unique and want the more experienced surfer return as I do to Steve's Digicams, Byte Photo, Megapixel.com and others?
Best wishes!

Hi, good luck with your new site.
I hope it turns to a site where I (we) can get quality information about photografy.
To the site itself, it looks good and it works good with the Mozzila browser on unix/linux sistem.

New Site
Paul-
Layout is very functional. I have to echo previous opinions regarding the gray color in some of the text. Very difficult to read, when it is teamed up with the smaller font sizes.
check out http://www.phototalk.com they are along the same general lines as the new site you are working on.
Good Luck !If it moves...Shoot it.
If it Doesn't...Shoot it Twice !!

I think the ads would be better suited on on the right of the content, but maybe that's just me

Nice
Site page load speed and navigation is fine. As for the overall look and feel, you may want to take into consideration Thirsk's suggestion... the main verbage or content of the site should generally be centered. The users main focus is the center of the screen. The Digital Ads should move to the right... Overall, it looks pretty good... Keep us informed of further upgrades to the site! Thanks.
In addition, you may want to bold the links on the left handside of the main page for the readers (who are a bit handicapped)... the grey is fine, but maybe bolding will allow it to stand out more... or choose another darker color.Last edited by sltse; Mar 8th, 2004 at 08:03 AM.
