RAW vs TIFF?
Hi everyone,
Can someone explain to me the difference between RAW and TIFF files? The way I see it, both are uncompressed and RAW smaller and is easier to manipulate afterwards, so why use TIFF?
Thanks
Joel

TIFF is a standarised format, RAW isn't.

Raw Files
Raw files are straight from the CCD of the camera and have had absolutely no processing done 'in camera'. Once loaded into the viewer supplied (with your cam software) or Photoshop CS you can then make the decisions about white balance, sharpening and gamma etc. Basically Raw format gives you the chance to decide how the picture looks instead of the camera.
Cameras don't take naff pictures - people do!
