Hi Gill
Hi Gill, Thanx for the welcome note. I am in the United States. I am using a Kodak Easy Share CX6230...I am in the market for a new camera though. I was participating in RawCanon.com on their Photo Hunt site. And wasn't aware that in order to participate, you had to own a Canon Digital Camera. I found out after posting a pic in the Gallery. The Photo Hunt site never complained, but the Gallery site did. I was at that point looking to buy a Canon, still am. Though my son says buy a Nikon....Still just looking. I want something with more megapixels, and resoulution. After RawCanon complained, I searched the web for a Kodak site. Then I found this site, and it doesn't appear that the type of Camera is a Prerequisite. If it is, would you please let me know, so that I don't embarrass myself again. I love photography, and am really looking forward to continued learning. Trudy

Trudy,
The only requirement here is that you love photography and want to share it with others. Most of the photos here are taken with digital cameras but not all of them. The people here are good folks with alot of talent and knowledge to share. I look forward to seeing some of your work.

Welcome Trudy
A nice welcome from another eastern part of the US. We were in Cape May last Sept and there are so many nice places for shots there. Especially the Cape May lighthouse from the beach at sunset
I have a couple in my premiun gallery of the sunset there.
Cant wait to see some of your photos. We all learn here as others have mentioned. A great bunch of people on a safe family photo site
Also, I notice EdMac looks to be from Cape May area, he has a lot of Cape May photosPbase.com/ReflectionsbyRuth

WOW! Thank YOU Every One,
The replies were so nice. Thank You Everyone, and I am glad to be here. I love photography. I have only been doing this seriously since last Summer. Prior to that, I owned a Kodak Digital Science, DC200. I purchased it for family photos. Then I purchased a Sprint PCS Phone Camera, and I discovered that I liked taking shots, other than family photos. I was photographing an old house, in my neighborhood. It was built in 1883. I loved this house. My friend went with me with her zoom camera, and I loved her camera, and went out and bought my Kodak Easy Share CX6230 with zoom. From there I was off to the races, I started going out every weekend snapping shots, trying to capture my artistic ability....Since then, I have purchased Photoshop Elements 2.0, which gives me a variety of options, but I discovered that my old program Picture It 99 was more user friendly. I have a nice portfolio now. I am looking forward to contiued learning, and I never leave home without my camera. I will post my pics, as soon as I can figure out how to. I am looking forward to seeing the work that is on this site. Thank You again, for welcoming me....Trudy

Hello Trudy and welcome to the site!
As to photo editing software, you mentioned that you returned to Picture It because it was more user friendly than Photoshop Elements. I suggest that you check out Paint Shop Pro 8 by Jasc as I think it is easier to use than elements and has pretty much the same features as Photoshop without the high cost. A free trial download is available at www.jasc.com
Enjoy!

Welcome Trudy
Hey and Welcome,
I am only new to this site as well and so far I have found it very helpful and I have seen lots of great photos also. The people here that have commented on my work so far seem to be nice and give handy hints on how to take better photos... Keep more pictures coming in.
I use Paint Shop Pro 8 and it is very user friendly and can do most of the things that Photoshop 7 can and it is also cheaper.
Beau.

Hi,
Thanx for all the replies. Paint Pro 8 is that really easy to use? I am having a really hard time with Photoshop Elements. I almost bought the most expensive Photoshop available, and am so glad that I didn't, because I doubt I would have been able to use it. I am still working on my gallery. Is there a limit as to how many pictures, or just the bytes, etc. Some of the pictures I have seen on this site are really good. I am going out today for some new shots. How many posts can you make to the assignment #7? There are a lot of Historical Sites here in Cape May.
