Any Paint Shop Pro users?

To make a long story short, I finally decided to save $500 or so and bought Paint Shop Pro 8 instead of PhotoShop CS. I had used the PhotoShop 7 Trial for 30 days and I really liked it, but $500 is a lot of money (of course, my wife helped me make the decision).

I'm not having nearly as much luck figuring out PSP. The tools seem less flexible and less controllable. Can anyone who uses PSP help me get going?

My favorite tools in PS7 were the white level, gray level, and black level eyedroppers and the unsharp mask. So far, I haven't been able to find similar functioning tools in PSP. I have found automatic commands that make adjustments like the PS7 eyedroppers, but I haven't figured out how to control them to do what I want - they just do what they do and that's it.

...... I should have looked a little harder before asking. I have found all of that stuff, now.

My problem was relying on their "Learning Center" tutorials, which were only discussing the automatic ways of doing things. When I just started poking through the menus, I found "Black and White Balance" (which includes gray balance) and "Unsharp". All of these work just about like in PhotoShop.

I think I am on my way to understanding PSP. I hope I didn't bother everyone. But, if anyone wants to offer tips, I'd still like to discuss them.

I use both PSP and PS, PSP has come one heck of a long ways, was originally designed strictly as an image editor for the net, these days it competes with the big boys, at a price most us can afford. If u really wanna know the program inside and out, I would suggest doing a search for "psp 8 tutorials" also there is a KILLER usenet group for psp, that is frequented often by the makers of the program. No problemo! Also you may wanna take a stroll over to yahoogroups.com and check out the hundreds of user groups for psp there as well. Under search type in psp, paintshop pro, paint shop pro

From what I've heard and seen, Paint Shop Pro will do just about anything the average user might want. About the only thing is not being able to use the vast variety of actions that are available. But this isn't that big of a deal.

Actually, the latest edition of psp, version 8, does run actions, they are called scripts. check it out http://www.google.com/search?q=psp+s...utf-8&oe=utf-8

Hi, I just started using PSP 8.10. I tried the free trial of 8.01 and liked it. I bought version 8.00 on line and then they sent me the update disk to 8.10 for free.
