Confused
I'm trying to participate in the contests on this site, but I'm confused. I've been on a number of contest sites, and maybe all those "methods" are conflicting.
As I understand it, I can enter 2 photos into picturee of the week contest.
So this past Friday night, or maybe it was saturday, I entered two.
Now: it seems that they went into the "end" of last weeks contest? In other words, there was only one day to vote on them? I don't see them in this weeks entries, though maybe I'm just totally confused.
I presumed that a contest would be structured so that go into a contest with a full week. If not, that means you really should only enter them on Sunday, the first day of the contest.
Or whatever. I find this site's layout very confusing!

How are they picked for finals voting? By the vote scores so far? So if you enter it on Saturday, and only get one vote, you don't stand a chance?
If that's true, are we allowed to reenter the same photo? Mine sure didn't get much of a chance for votes (not even saying they would win, but iI would like that feedback).
Thanks--Neil

- The finalists are select in part by Ή¦ratings and overall comments Ύ ¦ the finals voting is strictly numerical see > http://www.bytephoto.com/forums/t2571.html note to vote in the final you must have at least 15 posts
- Certainly there is an advantage to entering early ¦. However I have seen photos entered late in the week do well
- You my reenter a photo however it must have an Ή¦upload date Ύ during the current contest ¦
:: Important :: Please do not use the move function to move a photo from your main gallery that has an original upload date prior to the start of the contest as the votes and comments will follow it giving your photo an unfair time advantage in regards to number of views and comments. If you have a photo in your main gallery that you would like to place into the potw you may do so by uploading as a new upload . if the photo is also in your personal gallery you will need to change the file name as the system will not allow a user to have multiple files with the same name.
- One thing to remember is you have to participate in meaningful way to get the full benefit of the contest which goes beyond just winning.. if you want to get meaningful and quality comments on your images so that you may improve ¦ you should be willing to give fair and constructive comments on others photos ¦ that does not mean simply going thru the photos handing out 10 Ύs like candy in a effort to be Ή¦popular Ύ in the long run that does no one any good ¦ if you are uncomfortable in the beginning giving numerical ratings .. then just do your best to express what you feel are positive aspects of an image along with how you feel the image could be improved if applicable ¦ additionally if you come across an mage that you like ask the photographer how they setup the shot .. you will learn volumes by asking specific questions on individual photos ..Best Regards,
Steve
