Pentax Optio 330GS its gone blind!

I went to use my little Optio the other day but when I turn it on all it gives is a black screen,

Ive tried adjusting every control, the screen is working fine as the menu works,
Ive even replaced the firmware with v1.11 but still nothing.

It's done it before while on holiday and a quick reset of the camera and it was OK, but this time nothing seems to work!

Its almost like there is a lense problem, like an internal lense control is faulty.

Has anyone else had this problem?

I'm having the same problem with an Optio 33WR. Did you ever solve this problem?

No.

I brought a new camera in the end.

I was told by one guy (who seemed to know his stuff) that the optic reciever thing-a-mie has probably died, (the little bit that converts light into pixels.

He asked if we had dropped the camera (which would maybe explain if it had come loose), but we had been pretty careful with it (traveled all around europe with it with no trouble).

In the end we decided it just wasnt worth it, shame reallu because I liked the camera, but its put me off buying anotehr pentax as I believe it to be a design fault as there was definatly no miss-treatment on our behalf.

Sorry to hear it -- sounds very close to my situation. I liked the camera, but now I'm starting to realize why Pentax is a long way behind Nikon, Canon et al.
