To coin a phrase, "I feel your pain!"

I use Pentax cameras and have the same problem. Everybody and their brother carries Nikon and Canon, even Wal-Mart. My local camera store doesn't even advertise Pentax when they do carry a few products in stock.

I have to assume that Nikon and Canon have more money to spend on ads and promotions, so they get the most traffic.

It can be convenient to pop over to your local camera store, but, even though I have Canon, I have purchased all of my lens online. I first read all of the reviews online, then I deal with a stable, reliable company- usually B&H. The prices are much lower, even with shipping, and the selection is also better. --Rick

Shopkeepers aren't stupid. They only stock brands for which there is the highest demand and a quick profit for them, and that means Nikon & Canon.

I shoot Sonys and Minoltas, so I feel the pain as well. I have been using Adaroma for purchasing lenses. The selection is great, and the service is top notch!

I use a canon and where I live there are not a lot of lenses about for canon or Nikon, Ive seen Olympus just as often. We have to order in our products. Ive purchased three camera bodies locally and all were ordered in, they would not sell me their shelf display camera! I purchase all lenses online, I save around 25% that way

First I would check online at Adorama.com and look for the len's you like then do a seach at nextag.com for that lens you may also find a deal in price that way.

In the past 4 years it seems many of the camera stores in my area have closed there doors like Adray just a few months ago leaving only Wallmart to sell camera's now
