    Olympus C-4000 display won't work

Yesterday I noticed that the display on my Olympus C-4000 Camedia digital camera won't come on. I replaced the batteries and this did not fix it. The camera seems to still function: it takes pictures, it makes a flash, the pictures I took yesterday with no display were recorded on the memory card, and I could download them to my hard drive. In other words, the camera is working just fine, except there is no display.

I went to the manuals and was unable to find anything to fix this other than that one said the camera may be in sleep mode and to move the power mode dial. That didn't work. Pushing the quick view button didn't work, either.

    Does anyone have any ideas?

Set it to "reset", that will get it back to default settings. Sometimes taking the batteries out for several days will do the trick. They are great cameras, don't give up on it.

Thanks for the advice - but how do I reset the camera if the display won't light up so I can't see the menus?

I'll try the battery trick, too.

Change your profile to allow PM, and I think I can refer you to some experts. Removing the batteries long enough for the capacitor to drain completely may do it, but it could be a bad display or switch. I've taken more pictures with my C4000 than with the rest of my gear, it is worth trying to get going again.
