    SP500UZ - Newbie questions

Can I manually adjust the shutter speed on this camera? I want to take pictures of bikes racing.

When using the zoom feature it is almost immpossible to get a clear picture because any movement is magnified. Is a tri-pod the only fix for this?

Thanks for any insight. I am new to all of this.

    HI,

I suggest looking through the manual that came with the camera to see if you can manually set the shutter speed. I have the Olympus E-300 and their manual was quite helpful.

A tripod (or even a steady surface to sit your camera on) is often recommended when a zoom is used, but it all depends on the shutter speed.

If the shutter speed can't be ajusted try a higher ISO if possible, to see if that helps your action shots.
    Kind Regards.

Hi, I will post here, as the problem is somehow related. I bought an SP-500UZ yesterday and tried to make some movies. However, when i wanted to watch them on TV - connecting with the cable received in the box - I could only hear the beep noises (plug in, plus out etc) but no sound in the actual movie. What do you think it's the problem? The camera was set on PLAY > mode when I connected it, just as it was written in the manual. could there be a problem with the camera's microphone?

Many thanks, in anticipation of your answers.
