Unable to view photos on smartcard using computer.
I currently own an Olympus Camedia C4000 zoom camera. Until recently I have successfully taken photgraphs using a 128MB panaorama smartcard.
I have managed to view, edit and crop the images on my computer using a Uno Smart Media Reader.
Recently, I appear to have pressed a button on my keyboard making these images inaccessible, although I can still view them on my camera.
Placing the smartcard into the reader I am advised that the "device is not ready".
However, I am still able to view photographs I have taken using another smartcard.
Can any one advise me as to what I have done wrong or where I can gain access to the photographs on the computer.
Sincere thanks

could you have possibly clicked on the folder and made it hidden while on your computer?
A word of advice, never edit your pictures directly on the smartcard.
I had the problem a couple years back where I lost images because of it, and since than have seen many people post messages in forums on lots of photography sites who lost images as well from editing ans saving right back to their camera cards.
.
Copy them to your computer and edit and save to a different file there.
Also, never ever edit a jpg file and save it back to the same name.
Each time you save a jpg file over the same name you lose quality.
Save it to another name like.. add one more charachter ot the name.
DSC9001.jpg
edited file becomes
DSC9001e.jpg
that way you can always go back to the original should you have made a mistake in editing

Sincere thanks for your speedy reply.
Being a total novice, am I to assume that the photographs on this smart card and others subsequently taken will only be accessible on the camera and not via the computer as I am unable to locate the file?

What happens when you put the card back into the card reader?
You still cant see the file names?
Did you try going into your Window browser with the card reader and into the folders where the pictures are placed?
Your pictures are never stored on the first level on the card. They are normally stored 1 or 2 folders deep.
Once you have copied your pictures to your hard drive and know you have them backed up onto a CD/DVD, then format your card in your camera.
Let me know how you do.
