Stylus 300 won't stay on??

The battery is completely charged first off. But when I slide open the front slide to turn on camera half the time nothing happens and then sometimes the lenses will extend and the screen will turn on but then by itself without colsing the slide the lenses retract and the screen shuts off. Is it possible that the battery is damaged even though it says it is charged? If I am fast enough I can get a picture off but then it shuts down without me closing the slide. I have had the camera since April and I am so frustrated by this I am ready to chuck it out the window.

I am having the same problem. I have emailed Olympus, after reading several messages, don't really think they will help much.

I know nothing about that camera. In the cameras I own, there is a setting where you can adjust the time the camera stays on. It's usually in the set-up screen. Is that setting miss-set?

I finally mailed camera into Olympus. They are charing me 93.00 to fix. This includes cleaning & six month warranty. Of course, I can't just say throw it away.
