This is from Nikon's tech support site:
The SK-9 also comes with a SC-25 Sync Cord which can be used to connect cameras with a three pin flash connector (like the Coolpix 4500 and Coolpix 995). When used with these cameras the flash would be mounted directly beside the camera. Nikon also makes the SK-E900 Multi Flash Bracket Unit which has a flash shoe with a three-pin cable connected to it for use with the three-pin cameras.

thanks for the reply but what I am looking for is just a cable like the one with the SK9.
Nikon's brackets are a study in incompetence. Neither braket will separate the flash enough from the camera. I want to mount it on one of my custom brackets which use a psitol grip on the left hand side and mount the flash above and to the right of the camera lenses about a foot.
hopefully someone else makes one with enought lenght to be usefuljerry

I was trying to point out that the part number for the sync cord is SC-25. I thought that would help you be able to find one.

thanks for the clareification.
It seems as if the part is no longer available. It is not listed as an assessory anymore on the nikon site and several major internet dealers do not list the part as available. My local dealers have no idea how to help.
Nikon does show an E900 bracket and separate cable but it has a hot shoe on one end which is ok but appears to be less than a foot long, so I will be back trying to find a three pin extender cable, which may not exist.
I really need to get from the three pin to a PC plug, whcih is the universal standard.jerry
