Just got my D700
Wow - does it rock!

It's not nearly as heavy as I thought it would be even with the 24-70 f2.8 on it. Very well balanced actually. I like Nikon - controls are very similar to D50 - although a lot more of them - uses the same battery, USB cables etc. Only big change was the flash card (compact instead of SD).Suzan...

WOW, Congrats Suzan, didn't realize you had the D700 on order

Bet you can't wait to go out shooting again lol.
Guess those calendar sales were good this year?

Didn't put it on order - found it 'cheap' in one of the Calgary stores and went and got it the next day. Nothing like 'impulse' buying. Need a couple more weddings this year to pay that baby off. It's supposed to snow lightly tomorrow. I'd like to go play with moody weather if I can. Gets a bit scarier taking it out of the bag now when you realize just how much money you're holding in your hand - maybe I should get some image stabilization lenses to counteract those shakes of fear!

Suzan, just crank up the ISO! I LOVE the auto ISO ability. How about that 450 page manual! Congrats on purchasing an awesome photographic machine. I guarantee you won't be disappointed with it.
Darren
Oh and we'd love to see some of your results here.

Man am I jealous, Suzan. I lust after the low light performance of these. Noise Ninja is an integral part of my D200 now. The only problem with getting one (besides the cost) is I'd lose half my lens collection, all the DX ones.

Thanks Darren & Jim. I tried the 6400 ISO in my son's fencing class the other night. I was really impressed - tiny bit of noise in the dark corner at the far rear of the room and everything else was tack sharp. I'm going to have fun playing! There's a beautiful hoar frost outside right now so am hoping it doesn't blow off by morning. I'll definitely share results!
