Question on D50...can someone help?
I have a Nikon D50 and love the beautiful pics it takes. I only have one question.........when taking pictures in a nightclub setting, how can I take pics of the bands playing and catch a clear picture without the flash? All of the pics use the flash which overrides the stage lighting. How can I get the clear pic without the flash? I am a novice with this camera and need help. I think I have more camera than I know what to do with!
Thanks!

use a higher ISO in low lighting and probably set your Fstop to around F5.6
I have the D70 and D300 so I dont really know how the D50 is with noise at higher ISO's
Try it out a few times in similar situations to see how it comes outPbase.com/ReflectionsbyRuth

I had a nikon D50 before. Actually, D50 has the a better noise response thatn D70 based on technical reviews I read. So it is safe to go up to ISO 800 without any worries on noise. Always put your fstop on the lowest denominator and always take in consideration the slow shutter that you will have versus the focal lenght you use.

Something that I do in low light without flash is to shoot in raw with exposure compensation set at -2 and convert back to proper exposure in your software. This gives you a little faster shutter speed. I have a d-70 and this works fine with it.

Put it on ISO 1600 and use Program Mode (P) to take the photos. This won't force the flash open, but will run with your ISO settings. Alternately you can use your shutter priority and set the speed to prevent it from choosing aperture over speed - otherwise you may have problems with motion blur. I have a D50 and indoor non-flash shots are the one realm I've struggled with too. Long exposures are fantastic but you don't always want that with a moving band.
