    Nikon D40 Viewfinder

I am looking at purchasing a Nikon D40 and am new at digital SLRs. I assumed you could take a picture by using the viewfinder or the LCD display but it doesn't seem so. Is that true? Are there any DSLRs out there that allow you to use the LCD screen to take pictures?

I think some of the Oly DSLRs might have what you're looking for. Here is a link to a review of the Olympus E-410, http://www.dpreview.com/reviews/olympuse410/

the D3 and D300 are high end aren't they? i'd be afraid to use them lol... too complicated... 450D is still for entry level users isn't it?

i think shootem was just pointing out a fact, not that he was actually recommending it.

the D40 doesn't have live-view (framing with the LCD) and Nikon should've included it in their new D60.

Nikon D300 is actually relatively easy to use but the D3 is definitely a camera for the pros, and the price is in an entirely different ballpark....

the new wave of DSLRs will have live-view, the upcoming Sony A300, A350 DSLRs both have live-view as well but then again you're restricted to just konica lenses.
