    Lense Questions for D70s

I am looking for information on the following:

    1. Macro lense or lense kit that will allow me to take close up shots.

    2. Where can you find a telephoto lense that is bigger then 400mm?

    3. Fisheye lense - can you find them at a decent price for digital nikons?

    Thanks
    Nathalie

    1. Nikon makes some great Macro lenses that also work for other purposes. I have the 60mm and it's a great lens. I also use some Nikon extension tubes which get me closer.

    2. I would stick with name brands. If price isn't an issue, Nikon, Sigma and a few others make some great, large aperture super telephotos.

Note: I would try to keep my lens changes to a minimum so you don't get dust on the sensor so you may want to consider a zoom. I have a Sigma 28-300 which works pretty well but it's a slower lens. It is also takes nice close-ups.

    3. Can't help on the fisheye. I never liked them very much.

    lenses

Thanks for the info - I currently have 3 lenses and one of them is a 70-300mm but I was looking to see what might be a next step in getting more of a zoom...

I am thinking of trying some of the lense extensions are they are relatively cheap to see how I like the macro side of stuff...

    Cheers

    Sigma 105mm

Sigma makes great macro lenses and they are cheaper in price than Nikon.
I know a number of people I talked to the past week that own them and cant say enough good things about them.
I own the D70 and will be buying a 150mm shortly, but you can buy a 105mm for $359 at sigma4less.com
Always look for a macro lens that has F2.8

    Good macro lens for Nikon

A very interesting macro lens for Nikon is the Tokina 100/2.8 macro.

It is really great as a macro lens and offers more working distance than the Nikon 60/2.8 micro (I have both)

It double as a fast and very useful short telephoto, faster and much better optically than any consumer 70-300/4.5-5.6 zoom lens.

It also have a very nice bokeh due to the 9 aperture blades.

If you would like to see more about the Tokina 100/2.8, check www.radugrozescu.com/photo-tech/tokina-100-macro-review.html
