I just purchased the Nikon 5700 and already hate it. Really -- I should have just spent the extra money and bought the D70. Although the pictures are nice, the shutter lag is annoying (terrible shooting candids of fast kids) and I too have noticed the battery life is very short.

I'm still working with this camera until I can sell it and buy the D70 (and yes -- maybe wait until the price comes down).

So ... a question for those of you who own the 5700:

When I'm in user Set 1,2 or 3 and am trying to use shutter priority or Ap. priority, I can hit the mode button, turn the dial and change the setting. I take the picture and decide the setting isn't right -- so I try to turn the dial to increase / decrease the setting and it's locked. How do you change the settings (without turning the camera on and off)? I keep reading through the book and know it can be done, I just have no idea what I'm doing wrong.
