Cleaning the CCD of a Nikon D100

Has anyone here got experience with cleaning the CCD on a Nikon D100 (or any other Nikon digital SLR)? I know the manual says to have a professional do it, but I've also seen comments around the web that people have done this themselves and successfully.

If a dirty CCD is one of those things that happen from time to time (and it sound as if it is) then I'd rather consider doing the cleaning myself instead of always having to send the camera to Nikon for this (I'd get withdrawal symptoms without! )

Anyway, any advice would be appreciated

you have to set the camera on manual and for the time you have to choose the bulb setting:then u can clean the CCD with a blower device -NOTE not with compressed air

The bulbs used to suck snot from a baby's nose works great to blow air to clean the CCD ( make sure you clean it after the snot use :-} )

its very easy...plug your ac adapter in...switch camera to ccd cleaning then swab away with eclipse solution and pec pads...
