correcting distortion from wide angle lense
I shot a pic with 14 people in a small living room, I had to use my 17-35. The people in front was larger and not proportional to the people in back. Is there any software or anything I can do to make the pic more proportion? Help please.
thanks

Hi.
Hope I'm not too late (I just joined this forum).
I think the distortion you are talking about is barrel distortion (i believe a common attribute of zoom lenses at the wide angle end).
If it is, there is free software you can use to correct this... just refer to "http://www.dpreview.com/learn/?/Image_Techniques/Barrel_Distortion_Correction_01.htm".

Take the picture in Photoshop and select all, then use free transform to stretch the image until the perspective looks correct. Lastly crop the image to get rid of the excess area.

Phat,
Try this (I assume you have installed PhotoShop in all the default locations, and have not installed the Panorama plugin before):
1 - Put the "pano12.dll" file in the root Photoshop directory (e.g. C:\Program Files\Adobe\Photoshop CS)
2 - Put the "PhotoShop Plugin" files (i.e. the "*.8bf files) into your filters plugin directory (e.g. C:\Program Files\Adobe\Photoshop CS\Plug-Ins\Filters)
3 - Restart Photoshop. You should get a new menu item "Filter --> Panorama Tools".
The output of this is really good. I see that someone else has posted another correction method. I've tried that too... but I believe the result using the Panorama Tools plugin is of higher quality.
Good luck,
Duncan.

Hi Phat, There is a comprehensive 'Readme' file that comes with 'Pano Tools' and it answers most questions. Just a thought that you may have missed it. Regards [F.R.]Originally posted by mrdinh
