Problem with 5700
Hi all,
I just bought a new 5700. I unpacked it all, charged the battery and turned it on, and heard a clicking sound coming from inside the camera. The only thing I can think of is that this may be the internal battery powering up. I havent really noticed any other problems, the only thing would be it is sometimes slow to respond to commands ie when you press the shutter release, but I put this down to a low battery? Can someone help?
Thanks
Joel

Hi,
I have a 5700, and I've never heard a "clicking" sound from inside the camera.
Is the sound continuous or repeatable, or did you only hear it once?

I'm pretty sure now that the sound is the camera constantly refocusing. However, I didnt notice the sound when using other 5700's before I bought it. It is also slow to focus. I think it may be faulty.

It may be defective, but then again it may not....
I have used the 5700 and found low light photography is not its cup of tea. I to found it to be very sluggish and slow in normal indoor house conditions.
Over all take it outside and give that AF a go, I am sure you will find it to be much faster...
As for the sould, it sould not be very loud. AF only gives a very quite click when it reachs max an trys again. I would go test another and compair it side by side...

think its autofocusing
I imagine if you went into menu you would find the cam is set to autofocus continous if I remember correctly...I rememeber it was the first thing I learned to turn off and use the half shutter press to focus..hope this helps

Focus can take a while on my 5700, but the sound you're reporting does sound strange. I'd take it back to the shop and get them to check it.

Noise starting up
Dark Angel -
I'm sure by now you have figured out the noise from your camera is as you suspected - the auto focus constantly hunting for an object to grab onto. In your user settings - Turn it off - its a pain in the....... The single AF will speed up your shots considerably.
have I seen your posts on other forums lately ??
