Critiques
I've just added an option where users can tell members if they want to receive critiques or not.
When you upload a photo you can now select 'yes' or 'no' for critiques. You may also change this option in the 'edit photo' section.
If you wish some in-depth critiques or advice, post your photos in the Galleries forum.Kind Regards.

Great idea RVB
Just wondered about the home page where the latest uploads appear. I quite often look there when I'm browsing pictures. Is it possible to have the only pictures appearing in the random and recent uploads, ones that request critiques. Or is that not such a good idea.
Or maybe you could have a critique request gallery which includes pictures uploaded from the last seven days which have requested a critique. With maybe the ones with least comments at the beginning. I've seen similar things on other sites and they seem to work well on getting feedback.
Just a couple of ideas. Probably needs a bit of a discussion to get it right and I haven't a clue how difficult this would be RVB so I understand fully if you'd rather not as it may involve six months of code writing.

Matt has stepped in somethi..
No wait that's matt is on to something, yeah that's it.
Thinking about it I realize that many of the people who really might want advice might not post to POTW because they think they don't have a submission level image.
I think that option on the upload for a critique or not is genious!

I agree with Matt. I always hope I'll get some kind of critique when I post, but I've never posted a pic to the POTW gallery. I'm not worried about people telling me what's wrong with my photos .. that's how I'll improve. I simply don't think my photos are good enough for POTW. (Only just plucked up courage to post a first pic to the assignment gallery this week)
Warm regards

Interesting idea Matt.
Good point Dave. It's true there may be many who wish critiques but don't post to the POTW, and on the other hand, there are many who post photos below POTW standard just wishing critiques.
Gill, you have just emphasised the above points, thanks for your input.
I'm thinking of the best way to go about this, so any more feedback on the subject is more than welcome.
Kind Regards.

A stupid Dutchman is asking......
POTW without comments/critiques is the same as the
earth without water.
( so why this extra yes - or no option) ????
Kind regards.,LoftMy Gallery

Loft,
I agree...
This yes/no option is set globally for all the gallery categories, because it's a lot more work to do this only for the Members Galleries.
Also in the past certain members complained when they received critiques, now the choice is there, so those members cannot complain anymore.
Voil’*‚„’‚‚*.Kind Regards.
