    Maybe I'm stupid but I can't find out how to browse pictures by subject. Is there a way to, let's say, browse by portrait only?

    The only way is to a search using the search box on the gallery page.
    The results of the search depend on the keywords that each photo has been given by the submitting member, so if there is no keyword, 'portrait' for example, there will be no photo as a result.
