getting prints from digital cameras as easy as dropping off a roll of film
DEERFIELD, Ill., Dec. 3 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- With sales of digital cameras expected to surpass film cameras in the U.S. this year for the first time, .Walgreens makes getting prints from digital cameras as easy as dropping off a roll of film
Walgreens stores nationwide now offer standard, 4x6 photo-quality prints from digital cameras for just 29 cents each -- the same price as prints from traditional film. With more than 4,200 stores, Walgreens offers the service at more locations in the U.S. than any other retailer. To order digital prints, customers simply insert their camera's memory card into the Walgreens digital photo center, select which photos to print and present their receipt to the photo specialist. The order can be processed in
as little as one hour. "Up until now, it hasn't been easy getting photo-quality prints from your digital camera," said Mike Navarro, Walgreens national director of photofinishing. "Using a home printer is both time-consuming and expensive. And online photofinishers require several days to get prints to you. But with
more than 4,200 locations nationwide, Walgreens is a convenient place to drop off your digital camera card and get photo-quality prints the same day at the same low price as traditional film."
Ordering 50 or more prints costs even less -- just 20 cents per 4x6 print. Walgreens digital photo center can accept CompactFlash cards, Smart cards, memory sticks, PCMCIA cards and CDs, as well as the newest media including XD, secure digital and MMC cards. Customers also have the option of editing their
photos at the digital photo center, including retouching red-eye, cropping and zooming. In addition to photo-quality prints, customers can transfer digital pictures onto a CD.
For customers who prefer to order prints online, they can upload their digital photos to Walgreens.com and have photo-quality prints mailed to their home or to family and friends in another state, also for only 29 cents a print plus shipping. Photos can be shipped to more than one address. Walgreen Co. (NYSE: WAG) is the nation's largest drugstore chain with fiscal 2003 sales of $32.5 billion. The company operates 4,291 stores in 44
states and Puerto Rico, in addition to Walgreens Health Initiatives, which provides pharmacy benefits management, mail service prescriptions and other clinical services.Best Regards,
