Canon's new i560 Desktop Photo Printer is the world's first PictBridge-enabled inkjet printer, which allows consumers to print directly from any PictBridge compatible camera or camcorder regardless of brand. Customers can also print high-quality borderless photos, sharp text or perfectly formatted web pages from the computer. The i560 Desktop Photo Printer will be available in August for a suggested list price of $129.99.

As one of the fastest printers in its class, the i560 delivers print speeds of up to 22 pages per minute (ppm) in black(b) and up to 15 ppm in color(b) and it is capable of delivering a staggering 19 million droplets of ink per second at the maximum of 4800 x 1200 dpi color resolution(c). Dramatic improvements in speed and quality found in the i560 printer compared to its predecessor - the i550 model - are based on the inclusion of Canon technology found in the multi-award winning Canon i850 photo printer. This technology includes the i850 unit's print head and many of the print engine components.

With a PictBridge-enabled camera or camcorder, consumers can easily print pictures at home, the office or while traveling, to any PictBridge-enabled printer. Users simply connect the digital camera or camcorder to the printer with a USB cable. The i560 Desktop Photo Printer is also backwards compatible with all Bubble Jet Direct compatible cameras.
The i560 print head uses a Canon-exclusive technology that combines ultra-fine two picoliter (pl) drops for exceptional quality and detail when printing photos and five pl droplets for fast text and graphics printing. The print head also features 1600 nozzles and advanced Microfine Droplet Technology(TM) to eject the exact amount of ink for each droplet, resulting in a higher quality photo print and increased print speeds. The Canon Think Tank System(TM) provides economical ink use(d) using four individual tanks that can be replaced individually as each tank runs out.
To virtually eliminate color variance and banding during high-speed printing, the i560 printer has a symmetrical print head and Advanced Precision Color Distribution Technology. Consumers will enjoy a fast printing speed of approximately 50 seconds for beautiful borderless 4"x 6" photos(b). Photo prints look like they came from a photo lab thanks to true edge-to-edge borderless printing of 4x6, 5x7 and 8.5x11 inch photos. Another feature supported by the i560 printer is Exif Print, the worldwide standard for higher quality digital photo printing. Using Exif Print-enabled software such as Canon's exclusive Easy-PhotoPrint software or via PictBridge technology, the printer is able to use recorded data from Exif 2.2-equipped digital cameras and camcorders for truer reproduction of digital images.
Canon includes several software applications(e) on the Setup Software & User's Guide CD-ROM to make a variety of applications easier for the consumer including printing photos and web pages, downloading digital images and stitching together panoramic images shot with Canon cameras. Easy-PhotoPrint software (Windows/Mac) allows customers to print photos quickly using simple menu choices to locate digital images, pick paper size and type, choose the layout and print. Other features that help produce realistic digital images in Easy-PhotoPrint include Vivid Photo to print life-like vibrant colors and Photo Noise Reduction to decrease noise from digital images. Easy-WebPrint software (Windows only, requires Microsoft Internet Explorer version 5.5, version 6.0 is recommended) provides consumers with a tool that automatically resizes web pages to fit the standard printer page so they may be printed without losing important information from the right side of the screen. PhotoRecord(TM) (Windows only) helps print photo albums and photos with frames, ZoomBrowser EX (Win) and ImageBrowser (Mac) help the user download and catalog digital images while PhotoStitch (Win/Mac) will automate the process of stitching together digital images shot in the panoramic mode.
The Canon i560 Desktop Photo Printer is compatible with Windows XP/2000/Me/98/95/ NT 4.0, Mac OS 8.6-9.x, Mac OS X v 10.2.1 to 10.2.x. A one-year limited warranty with InstantExchange(f) is included with an option to purchase an extended limited warranty (good for up to three years) from Canon for a suggested retail price of $50.00. The i560 Desktop Photo Printer will be available in August for a suggested list price of $129.99.
