Konica Minolta Dimage A1 5MP Digital Camera with 7x Anti Shake Optical Zoom

Would the camera described in the title be a good camera for a beginner? I found one for 300$ and I am fairly sure I want to buy it. My grandpa recommends it because he has the same camera except without the antishake. What do you guys/girls think?

Grant, this is a fine camera. Be sure that it has plenty of manual controls (Aperature, shutter speed, etc) so you can take control of the camera. I had a Minolta 5D dslr and loved it. My wife has a Sony that is very similar to this one and takes great photos with it (check out cindylea's gallery here at Byte).

    Good luck!

Sorry I've been gone a while, but I've been a bit busy. Anyways, my b-day is only 4 days away now! I need just $40 and I will be able to buy my camera!!! I am very excited.
