System Error MF00C?

I have a problem whith my camera DiMAGE G400 : a blue screen and System Error MF00C. what is the solution please?

Put a bit of force on the focusing lense to push it back into camera casing. That's the reason the sliding mechanism won't work. The lense is stuck and if you force it back in, the sliding mechanism will work again. Not responsible if your camera screws up, so try at your own risk. It was the only thing that worked for me. I surfed other forums for a solution and the only other solution offered was that people sent their cameras, under warranty, back to Konica-Minolta and they were basically screwed. The service people claimed they dropped the camera and refused to honor the warranty which is thing is bull-hockey. So take it into your own hands..literally! Good luck.

I have exactly the same problem, blue screen and the MF00C error.
I have tried pushing the lens in but no luck.
I have opened the camera. Does anyone know of a reset jumper/button to reset the camera?

I had the same problem on my G400 and ended up up on this page while trying to find a solution.

I had pushed the lens back in but was still getting the system error. It occured to me that maybe I just needed to get the lens back onto the right point in the track. For someone up above this meant pushing it back in, but maybe it meant pulling it out for me.

I couldn't figure out a way to pull the lens back out and I didn't want to bang the camera against a hard surface. I finally ended up smacking it against the bottom of my palm a couple times, getting it to come back out about 1mm. Then I tried opening the sliding cover and the camera turned back on. Hope this helps.

I thought about grabbing a pair of forceps and pulling it out, but, thankfully, it only took a small (almost imperceptible) movement of the lens to get it back into position so the automatic movement could do its thing.

I'd try the following a bunch more times before resorting to forceps or something that might scratch the cover or ruin the mechanism by forcing it: 1) smack the camera on your palm three times, 2) try closing and opening the lens cover to see if it works now, 3) rinse and repeat.

Hi again what do you mean by rinse? I have tried the method of smacking the camera against my palm a few times. This does not work and all that happens is that the lens trys to focus but can't as it appears to be jammed and will not budge and then I get the same error message again "system error mf00c" before it shuts down.

Any ideas?

p.s If I leave the lens cover shut everything else for instance viewing images/video on my sd card works the error only occurs when the shutter is opened

"Rinse and repeat" is the standard direction at the end of the instructions on a shampoo bottle. Colloquially, it means to repeat the previously stated steps.

Did you try pushing your lens in as far as it will go and then closing/opening the cover? If not, do that first and then do the palm smacking if it's still necessary. Good luck.

Yeh I tried that but once I open it again it doesn't take long before the same old error message is on the screen again and the lens aint budging. I heard some other users talking about a jump switch could that be the solution and if so how?

I encountered a very similar problem for the first time today. I took a shot and when I tried to close the camera, nothing happened and the camera stayed powered up. However, the camera is set to auto-power off after 3 minutes at which time the len retracts and the camera goes off.

When I close the lens cover, my screen reactivates as if I'm powering up. If I quickly reopen the cover, the camera functions as normal. If I leave it closed, the blue screen and system error MF00C comes up and the camera beeps for a few seconds before repowering down.

As long as the camera still works, I'm ok with it. Otherwise I'm farked.

I got the same error message.
I tried to push the lens in but that didn't help.
I then pulled the lens fully out and then it worked.
It was a bit tricky to get the lens out. I used my nail to "grab" between the outer glas and the little plastic cover.

Hope this will work for others too.

I have the same problem (I think) but a different error message.... I happened to my cousin too! and my granddad! (these must not be very good cameras...)

I tried to pry it up like jopo said and managed to pull the little cover that describes the lens clean off.

My camera wont push the lens out at all, it just sits there, out a little bit.

update: NOW I have MF00C liek the rest of you! ugh!

This camera really has been one of the worst ever. Through all the problems before, this famous bluescreen has appeared.

Yet, nothing has been working out to fix the problem. Since I received some compensation from my insurance and was able to buy new camera, I will be forced to try some extreme solutions to fix the camera. Eventually, I think opening it or something - or just smash it to the wall just to feel happy because of the camera for one time.

Had the same problem. After finding this post I tried to push the lens in gently. Finally took 3 tries to get it in, but still couldn't close the cover. Forced it in and closed the cover, opened it and the camera is working fine. Scary process to go through to get your camera to work, but I guess there are too ways to look at it.....if you don't do it the camera doesn't work, if you do it it might not work either, but it seems in several cases mentioned here it does work.
