card error
I've got a big problem with my camera. I've been using a Viking 128MB CF card for more than half a year with no problem, then suddenly today I got card error. I've tried removing and replacing it dozens of times with the same results. I also tried using my Lexar 16 MB which came with the camera, and while it was ok for a while, it later got card error as well. Anybody knows what the problem is? I'm thinking something's wrong with the camera itself, as both cards got the same message.

card error help
Well one thing I know, never delete images from the card unless you are deleting them with the camera. After you copy over images to your hard drive, put your card back in the camera and format it wiping out the pictures.
I had a problem with a card 2 weekends ago and almost lost the images because of it.
I now use a program called PhotoRescue v3 that saved my pics from being lost.

I directly connect the camera to the PC via USB, then select and pcut the pics and paste them in a directory. Maybe that was bad for the card...
Thanks for the help, I'm trying to borrow a card reader and see if I can save the pics, and also if it's the cards or the camera that has the problem. I hope it's the former, as the card manufacturer is willing to replace it (I can buy another in the meantime). I bought my camera in the US but live in Asia (no Minolta service center in my country, and the model is not marketed in the region), so I'm going to be in big trouble if it has a problem!Last edited by Kitty; Sep 23rd, 2004 at 02:34 PM.

storage cards
I also had this problem, and yes I've went to connecting direct with the usb cable and I format the card via the camera everytime, thus in last six months haven't had any problems.
