RAW file

Hi, Can someone please tell me what is a RAW file? I need the RAW file for a particular photo in my PC, but I see I have only the JPEG file. I searched in google and found it is something other than the JPEG file. Does that mean I won't be able to get the RAW file for my photo?

Annie,

Not every camera has RAW capability (most point and shoots do not). If your camera does have the capability you need to set it to shoot in RAW format. Then the RAW files need to be processed in order to convert to a .tif or .jpg.

Your camera has to be able to shoot in RAW before you can have a RAW file. You also have to have set your camera to shoot in either strictly RAW, or RAW/+jpg. Shooting in JPG will not give you the opportunity to access the RAW file.
