I received an email this morning that my copy of Photoshop CS has shipped. I guess that I will receive it in a few days. Has anyone else received that message?

Thumbs down Thumbs down for Photoshop CS

It has been discussed ad nauseam in other forums...but I just want to vent my hard-feelings again...

I disagree with the "activation" scheme Adobe is using with CS version. Those who want to hack the software and use pirate copies will find a way. The activation scheme is just another inconvenience for honest users, and an unnecessary invasion to our privacy. Why can they use a hardware key, just to mention an alternative?

For the very same reason I have not upgraded to Windows XP.

Linux platform, with its Open Office and Gimp is becoming increasingly attractive. The inconveniences of "learning" a new system will probably be smaller -on the long term- that the ones I will have with "activation-required" software.
The pure and simple truth is rarely pure and seldom simple

I have been using CS for one day now. I find that it has a greatly improved tool set for handling RAW files. Prior to this I have been using Nikon Capture to do all of my editing of NEF (Nikon RAW)files. I then used Photoshop 7 to print or add borders. So far, one of the things that I miss using Photoshop CS is there is no easy way to see EXIF data unless you open a panel. In Nikon Capture, the EXIF data is always sitting at the top of the frame. There appears to be an incompatiblity between Nikon Capture and PS-CS. In NC there is an icon that will allow you to open the file you are editing directly into Photoshop 7 without saving it as a TIFF or jpeg. When you try it using PS-CS you get an error message.
Other than the above, PS-CS acts much the same as PS7. There have been a few new tools added.

Activation was not a problem. I started a thread in another forum that caused all kinds of responses concerning the new activation requirement. Many people including myself would like to have our one user copy of PS run on several of our machines. This is not to cheat Adobe, but to make it convenient for us who have several machines. The activation feature will not allow that anymore. I can accept that those are and have been the rules, and I believe that I can live with that.

    A test please ?

    EdMac,

I don't have PShop CS, but I have my doubts on php being able to extract the new metadata file information.

Would it be possible to post a photo which has been processed in PShop CS to see if the exif info appears under the photo.

    Thanks in advance
    Kind Regards.
