Thoroughly Confused
I have been considering the purchase of imaging software and have read reports about various systems all for naught. Problem arises from not wanting to download for free trials and subject myself to viruses and such. Another, is the term "user friendly". I read on this forum, about alot of folks raising the question of "user friendly" or the lack of it. I am not totally inept in the use of a computer. However, I am reluctant to purchase something (or various somethings)that will disappoint, and pull my hair out in the process. I know that my inquiry may be very broad based and somewhat vague. Just would like to know, what is the "Best" Software to purchase for someone(not a professional)looking to enhance, remove, crop and such. A beginner looking for the right product. Thanks.

Hallo nuguy,
May I suggest you visit the following site and look at their product called "Lightzone"
Also look at their product called "Aurora" which is a simpler form of "Lightzone"
I can thoroughly recommend them and I am an avid user of Lightzone myself. They both have free trails and i can assure you that they do not have virusses.

Sincere regards

Thanks for your input. Could you help me with the system requirements needed for this software? I am concerned that I do not have the correct video card. My display adaptor is: NVIDIA GeForce 6150 LE. I was hoping that I would not need any computer upgrades. Thanks.

Nuguy, Google has an app for basic editing and collation called Picasa. It works nicely for simple edits although there is no function for "removing" an item. There is a freeware program called The Gimp that is a full featured editing suite and I can recommend it enthusiasticly. There is a learning curve associated with it but there is a lot of online info to help you master it's features.
