    Digital Editing for Beginners

    Hello:
New to this site and new to digital photography. Was wonderng what editing tools program you folks might recommend? I would like to have the ability to remove certain parts of a photo and select the best part for printing. For instance, removing electrical lines and such. And, all of the preceding has to be user friendly. Impossible you might say. Anyway, looking for some input. Thanks.

Almost any graphics editing program will perform these tasks. Now let's talk money. You can pay over $1000 or get a good one for free. Photoshop seems to be the best but is very expensive and cost $600 and up. Photoshop Elements has the basics and does a fine job for around $100. If you are looking for free stuff, try Paintdotnet.

It is a very nice program with most of the bells and whistles.

Check out this site for some reviews:

    Hope this helps.

I use Photoshop Elements 6 (I think there's one newer version out there.) It's relatively easy - has way more features than I'd ever use - and does everything I've asked it to so far including stitching panoramas from 3 photos.
