    monitor calibrations?

    using monitor calibration chart and making sure its bang on,it seems the pics look so different in many programs.The software particularily is photoshop elements,paintshop7 and acdsee.any thoughts as not sure which program now portrays closest to the actual picture?

    That's interesting. I opened an image of a person taken outdoors in bright overcast conditions with PS7 ACDSee 4 and err paint and could not see any difference. I guess looking at a GretgaMacbeth may show differences though.

    only real big difference I have noticed actually is anything opened in adobe...either elements or photoshop..paintshop pro and acdsee look identical..

    Even though these methods of calibration are pretty good, the best way is to actually use a callibrator like spider or something similar. They attatch to your monitor and check that it's producing a predetermined set of colors and then it makes adjustments accordingly. If you do alot of commercial stuff, this is the only way to go.
