new to digital art/digital photo imaging

Being new to Digital Art and Digital Photo Imaging, can anyone give suggestions on what software to use? Putting into consideration that im a beginner.
A user-friendly software? But not one that is limited for other possible options. Also, i would like to know if it's worth investing on a tablet and stylus?

I would recommend Paint Shop Pro. It will ease you in as a beginner but later on provide a fairly full feature set.

You could also take a look at the new Adobe Photo Shop Elements 3. I have never used it, but it is getting pretty good reviews.

Rita, I really recommend Adobe Photoshop. It's userf reidnly but has many really advanced options for when you progress. There are lots of different versions and all of them are good. You coulod probably go with one of the older versions (6.0 or below) or ELements because you're relatively new and they're cheaper but have most of the same stuff. The only differences are really the advanced things.

ShowMe is one easy-to-use software. you could use it to edit and organize your photos , make photo slideshow and add music and make video. You could get it on download.com.

Nooooooo.... photoshop is too too advanced and honestly too expensive for a novice. I have been working with photoshop for years and I am still learning.

I agree with the above statement of Paintshop Pro or ACDSee or something that is easy to learn and has alot of feature sets that come along with it.

As a novice you are basically doing colour correction , crops and rotating images... Maybe even working with a histogram.

You dont need PhotoShop to do that... kinda like using a chain-saw to cut a brick of butter.

Paintshop Pro (now owned by Corel) is a great product.
ACDSee (more an image manager rather than editor) has some great features as well
